We believe that great wine is born from respect for the land. That is why we have chosen to care not only for our vineyards but also for the environment around them, so that the landscape that gives us our wines today can do the same for generations to come.
The sun that ripens our grapes will soon power our estate too. We are installing a 29 kW solar power system with 14 kWh of battery storage: the energy produced during the day will be stored and used in the evening and on cloudy days. Once up and running, the system will produce around 36,000 kWh of clean energy every year and avoid around 15 tonnes of CO2 emissions.
For guests travelling by electric car, we are installing three 11 kW charging points powered by our solar system: one reserved for guests of the General's Apartment, one shared by the Caserma apartments and one at the winery, available to visitors who come to buy our wines. Use of the charging points must be arranged with the owners.
Our commitment, from vineyard to glass

A plastic-free vineyard
We have chosen not to use plastic in our vineyard. We tie the vine shoots with biodegradable ties that break down at the end of the season, and instead of plastic sheeting we let grass grow between the rows, protecting the soil from erosion, keeping it fertile and giving shelter to beneficial insects.
A certified organic estate
Our vineyard treatments follow organic protocols, without herbicides or synthetic chemicals. Our estate is certified organic, a commitment checked every year by an independent control body.

A lighter cellar
We use lighter bottles, because less glass means less CO2 in transport. We close our wines with natural cork or recyclable stoppers and ship them in cardboard packaging, with no plastic. The grape pomace goes back to the land as compost for our vineyards.
A sustainable holiday
The apartments of our agriturismo will soon be powered largely by solar energy. Staying with us means enjoying the countryside, the flavours and the peace and quiet with a lighter footprint on the planet. We separate our waste for recycling, and we ask our guests to help us too.

Guardians of the landscape
A healthy vineyard lives alongside nature, not in its place. Hedges, fruit trees and olive trees grow among our rows, giving a home to birds, bees and beneficial insects and making the vineyard richer in life, contributing to biodiversity.
We also look after the dry-stone walls that hold up the terraces of our hills. They are part of the Ligurian landscape, built by hand over centuries of work, and they protect the soil from landslides and erosion. Keeping them standing means looking after our land.
Finally, we care for our old Rossese vines, a precious genetic heritage. Together with the other producers of the appellation we have worked on the Additional Geographical Mentions, the crus of Rossese di Dolceacqua, known locally as "Nomeranze", to recognise and protect the unique character of each hillside and each microclimate.
People and community
Terre Bianche was born in 1870, when Tommaso Rondelli planted the first Rossese vines on these white soils. Since then five generations have worked the same land: for us, the truest form of sustainability is to last over time and to leave our children better land than we received.
We believe in the strength of our territory. For us, terroir is not something a wine simply reflects on its own: it is knowledge that a community builds together over generations and keeps reinventing as the land and the climate change. That is why Filippo Rondelli is involved in the winegrowers' association, and why, together with the other Rossese di Dolceacqua growers, we work to help the whole appellation grow, not just our own winery.
A responsible choice, in every glass
Every bottle that leaves our cellar carries this choice with it: a wine made more and more with renewable energy, with respect for nature and for our land.
